'Solace' Delivers Overseas

According to Sony's weekend estimates, Quantum of Solace, which opened in the UK, France and Sweden this weekend, grabbed the equivalent of $38.6 million on 2,123 prints, generating more than $18,000 per print.

Here are statistics from those three locations:

U.K.'s Opening Numbers: The weekend estimate now sits at 15.4 million pounds, which is the biggest standard 3-day opening of all time, passing Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 's 14.934 million. This is 35% bigger than the 11.427 million pounds launch of Casino Royale. Quantum captured a massive 70% of the U.K. box office this weekend.

France's Opening Numbers: Weekend estimate of 8.2 million euros beats Casino Royale 's 7.056 million by 16% for the biggest Bond launch ever, and in just 3 days. Casino Royale 's opening was during the standard French 5-day weekend.

Sweden's Opening Numbers: 18.1 million SEK 3-day weekend is that country's 4th biggest F-S-S opening ever, behind only Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (20.4), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (19.3), and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (19.0). Solace 's opening is 31% bigger than Casino Royale 's 13.821 million SEK launch.

Solace expands into 57 additional markets next weekend.
