The Los Angeles Film Critics Association named WALL-E the Best Film of 2008, which marks the first time the organization has ever given that honor to an animated film.

The LAFCA could not have picked a more radically different winner than the one they picked last year, Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood.

This win may provide the animated flick the boost it needs to become a serious contender for the Best Picture Oscar rather than the one for Best Animated Feature.
