BOX OFFICE ACTUALS: 'The Croods' Dominates, but 'Vai Giving Right' Elbows into History

on March 27, 2013

The Croods opened to $3 million in Brazil, more than enough to win the weekend. But it's the Brazilian caper comedy Vai Giving Right that's stealing the headlines. The heist flick about a group of former high school friends placed second for the weekend with $2.1 million, but actually made more per-screen than the DreamWorks caveman cartoon -- so much, in fact, that it placed #10 among Brazil's highest domestic openers, narrowly behind 2011's Bruna Surfer Girl, which went on to make $12.3 million. If Vai Giving Right can rake in similar numbers, it'll definitely be one of the Brazilian industry's biggest box office heists of the year.
