CHINA: 'Personal Tailor' Survives Poor Reviews, Thrives in Debut

Personal Tailor stormed into theaters with a $51.1 million
debut. Poor reviews couldn't stop the new comedy from director Feng Xiaogang.
Personal Tailor dominated the market in its first week with 65% of the
marketshare among the top ten films in China. Personal Tailor also premiered in
9 screens in North America through distributor China Lion, taking a total of
$112, 224 for a $12,469 per-screen average.
Hong Kong police thriller Fiestorm fell to second place in its first full week of release. The action flick added $16.22 million to reach a $43.55 million total. No Man's Land reached the $40 million milestone in its third frame after grossing $4.65 million over the week.
None of the Hollywood films in release were able to hit the $1 million mark this week. Epic reached an $8 million total in China in its fourth frame, while Gravity is winding down its blockbuster run at $70 million. The Huner Games: Catching Fire rounds out the week's top ten with a $27.92 million cume.
