The Monkey King continued its blockbuster run in China with a $74.22 million tally in its first full week of release. The Chinese film is now reporting a 10 day total of $126.4 million in its home market.
Reality TV show adaptation Dad, Where Are We Going is the other big winner from the Lunar New Year holiday, raking in $52.49 million in its first full week of release. The Chinese film has grossed a $94.12 million 10-day total and should easily cross the $100 million mark in the coming days.
Hong Kong/Chinese co-production The Man From Macau, starring the legendary Chow Yun Fat, scored another big frame in its first full week in release with a $32.21 million hold. The strong performance for the film lifts its 10-day cume up to $44.09 million.
Frozen posted a strong $14.11 million debut from its mid-week premiere, marking the biggest opening weekend for a Disney Animation film in the market and the second biggest among Disney/Pixar releases, behind Monsters University. The Monsters, Inc. prequel finished its run in China with a $33.7 million total, placing the box office expectations for Frozen in China in the $30 million range

Disney is reporting a $13.7 million estimate for Frozen in China since its February 5 debut. The opening figure represents the biggest bow for a Disney Animation release in China and the second biggest for a Disney/Pixar animation release, behind Monsters University.
Monsters University finished its run in China with $33.7 million.
Frozen is already Disney Animation's biggest release of all time in China and currently ranks third among Disney/Pixar releases after only five days in the market.

Pulled in a Record $1.8 Million on Jan. 31, the First Day of the Chinese New Year
BEIJING and LOS ANGELES - Feb. 4, 2014 - IMAX Corporation (NYSE:IMAX; TSX:IMX) announced today that its network of IMAX® theatres in China enjoyed its biggest single box-office opening day on Friday, Jan. 31, the first day of the Chinese New Year, grossing a record $1.8 million across 140 screens. Driven by the stellar performance of The Monkey King, the martial-arts-themed local-language hit from Filmko Pictures and China Film Group, Chinese IMAX theatres bested their previous single-day mark of $1.5 million, established in 2013 with the release of Marvel's Iron Man 3.
The Monkey King's record-breaking first day kicked off what is certain to be a strong week-long Chinese New Year holiday for IMAX. Over the three-day holiday weekend, local IMAX theatres took in a robust $4.5 million.
