'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' Hits $80M Mark in China, $3.7M from IMAX on April 13, 2014

capamerica.jpgCaptain America: The Winter Soldier hit the $80 million mark in China over the weekend. China is the biggest overseas market for the superhero sequel, representing more than 3 times the $25 million cume of South Korea, the film's second biggest overseas market.

The Captain America sequel is now the #3 Disney release of all time in China. The film has been especially popular in IMAX, where it has already grossed a total of $3.7 million from 307 Chinese IMAX screens.

'Mr. Peabody & Sherman' Crosses $15M on April 06, 2014

The film posted a resilient hold in China, where it only fell by 15% in its second weekend to gross $6.5 million and reach a $15.4 million market total. Mr. Peabody and Sherman has grossed $137.3 million overseas and $239.5 million globally.

'Need for Speed' Leads the Pack En Route to $60M on April 01, 2014

needforspeed.jpgNeed for Speed leads the pack once again after grossing $13.86 in its second full week of release in China. The racing film has now grossed a total of $59.56 million in China and is the film’s biggest market, surpassing North America by over $20 million. Mr. Peabody & Sherman took a $7.86 million opening weekend to finish in second place on the weekly grosses chart. Fellow opener The Monuments Men came in fourth place with a $4.96 million debut. The Berlin Film Festival Golden Bear winner Black Coal, Thin Ice grossed $6.65 million in its first full of release. The Chinese film has grossed a total of $13.4 million.
