'Ice Age 4' Underwhelms Slightly

on July 14, 2012 by Phil Contrino

Ice Age: Continental Drift took in $16.5 million on Friday, putting it on pace for $44 million during its debut frame. Most analysts were predicting an opening north of $50 million for the animated flick. With more than $200 million in the bank internationally, Ice Age 4 is already a hit, so the domestic opening is less important. More than 29,000 Flixster users have combined to give Ice Age 4 a mediocre 65% approval rating.

The Amazing Spider-Man is holding up well during its sophomore frame. Sony reports that TASM made $10.3 million on Friday. Fans are clearly rushing to see the film before the Dark Knight Rises onslaught hits next weekend.
