Paramount's Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters rounded out its first week in theatres with a first place take of $1.22 million on Thursday. The 3D action-horror film starring Jeremy Renner increased 4 percent over its performance on Wednesday. Hansel and Gretel was the week's top film with a seven-day start of $25.25 million, which was towards the lower end of the wide ranging pre-release expectations for the film. Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is currently running 28 percent stronger than the $19.70 million one-week take of 2005's The Brothers Grimm and just 1 percent softer than the $25.58 million one-week start of 2009's Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.

Silver Linings Playbook held steady in second place with $0.85 million. The Best Picture nominee form The Weinstein Company continues to hold up nicely as it was up 5 percent over Wednesday and down only 7.5 percent from last Thursday. Silver Linings Playbook finished in third place for the week with a weekly gross of $12.80 million. To date, Silver Linings Playbook has grossed $72.26 million domestically, leaving it $21.35 million away from matching the $93.62 million total domestic gross of 2010's The Fighter.

Sony's Zero Dark Thirty took in $0.655 million on Thursday to remain in third. The Kathryn Bigelow directed Best Picture nominee was up 6 percent over Wednesday and down a solid 35 percent from last Thursday. Zero Dark Thirty placed in fourth this week with $12.39 million and has now grossed $72.50 million to date.

Universal's Mama grossed $0.603 million to continue to claim fourth. The PG-13 horror film starring Jessica Chastain was up 5 percent over Wednesday, but down 45 percent from last Thursday. Thanks largely to its weekend performance, Mama finished in second for the week with $15.74 million. With a two-week total of $51.53 million, Mama continues to exceed expectations.

FilmDistrict's Parker and Relativity's Movie 43 rounded out their lackluster first week performances with respective Thursday grosses of $478,788 and $264,689. For the week Parker debuted on the low end of its modest expectations with $9.22 million, while Movie 43 debuted below expectations with just $6.06 million.  Both films should experience steep second weekend declines this weekend.
