On the heels of a strong second place start over the weekend, Universal's The Best Man Holiday moved into first place on Monday with $2.43 million. The modestly budgeted ensemble comedy sequel was down 66 percent from Sunday, which represented one of the day's stronger daily holds among wide releases. Strong word of mouth and skewing heavily towards adult moviegoers should both help out midweek business for The Best Man Holiday going forward. With a stronger than expected $32.54 million four-day start, The Best Man Holiday is running just 11 percent behind the $36.399 million four-day take of last year's Think Like a Man.

Disney's Thor: The Dark World fell to second place on Monday with $2.21 million. The blockbuster Marvel superhero sequel fell 76 percent from Sunday, which is another sign of the film's appeal with family audiences. Thor: The Dark World was down a sharp 79 percent from last Monday's inflated Veterans Day performance. With an eleven-day take of $147.31 million, Thor: The Dark World is set to reach the $150 million mark either today or Wednesday. The film is currently running 20 percent ahead of the $122.31 million eleven-day take of 2011's Thor and 11 percent behind the $164.96 million eleven-day gross of last year's Skyfall.

CBS Films' Last Vegas placed in third with $0.67 million. The modestly budgeted ensemble comedy was down 67 percent from Sunday and down 57 percent from last Monday. Last Vegas is approaching the $50 million domestic mark with a very healthy 18-day take if $47.21 million and should continue to hold up well going forward.

Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa took fourth with $0.53 million. The Jackass spin-off from Paramount fell 70 percent from Sunday and 64 percent from last Monday. Bad Grandpa has grossed $90.48 million in 25 days, which leaves the film just $9.52 million away from the $100 million domestic milestone.
