INDIA: 'Aashiqui 2' Continues to Thrive on May 31, 2013

Aashiqui 2 maintained its pace among domestic films at the Indian box office this week, coming in first place with a $1 million weekly gross in its fifth week. The sequel has now grossed $13.7 million in India. Shootout at Wadala slowed down on its run to $10 million, stopping just shy in its fourth week with $9.7 million. Shootout at Wadala has made $369,573 in its North American run. Go Goa Gone saw its gross go up to $4.4 million in its third week in India, adding another $298,457 to its global cume from North America in the same number of weeks. Rangeelay reached a $148,418 cume in North America.

INDIA: 'Aurangzeb' Opens with $3.3M on May 24, 2013

Aurangzeb opened in wide release and led all the domestic films in India during its premiere week, grossing $3.3 million across 1200 screens. Aurangzeb is the latest in a string of crime thrillers to succeed at the Indian box office. Aashiqui 2 had another strong showing, grossing $1.3 million in its fourth week, reaching a total of $12.6 million. The Relucatant Fundamentalist had a strong premiere in limited release, grossing $205,343 from 186 screens.

INDIA: 'Rangeelay' Opens To $70k In North America on May 20, 2013

Rangeelay opened in 20 screens in North America last weekend and grossed $73,541. The Punjabi film fell behind similar openings from Goa Goa Gone ($177k) and Shootout at Wadala ($212k). Go Goa Gone reached a $270,139 cume in North America after a strong $53,058 third weekend in release. Shootout at Wadala fell 50% from the previous weekend, taking in only $8,938 for a $365,733 North American cume.  

 

INDIA: 'Iron Man 3' Reaches $12M on May 19, 2013

Iron Man 3 reached a $12 million cumulative total in India, a comparable gross to the performance of domestic film Aashiqui 2. The latest entry in the Iron Man franchise has proved popular with Indian audiences despite not grossing the headline-grabbing numbers it has achieved in other global markets. 

INDIA: 'Go Goa Gone' Opens in #1 with $3.9M on May 17, 2013

Go Goa Gone opened in 1135 screens this week with a $3.9 million gross to top the Indian box office among domestic films. Two sequels, Aashiqui 2 and Shootout at Wadala, placed in second and third place respectively. Aashiqui 2 held for a strong $2 million during its third week, reaching an $11.5 million cume. Shootout at Wadala grossed $1.9 million to take its total to $9.2 million.
