Singam 2 is beating expectations after its day-and-date global release on July 5th, performing strongly at the Indian box office, OneIndia Entertainment reports. There was a massive amount of advanced booking for this film, and many theaters even had to buy back tickets because they had sold too many. Trade analysts originally anticipated that the film would make over $4.2 million (20 crores) worldwide during its opening weekend.
Raanjhanaa was originally set to be released in Pakistan sometime in June. However, The News reports that Pakistan's Film Censor Board banned the movie because the love story of a Hindu-Muslim couple could potentially offend the Islamic conservatives. It is a relativity common occurrence for the Film Censor Board to ban movies. Some popular titles that were recently banned include Zero Dark Thirty and India's Tere bin Laden.
Ghanchakkar was the top film in the Indian box office this week, grossing $4.6 million in its opening run across 1511 screens. The comedy had a day-and-date roll-out in other markets around the world, posting a $775k total outside of India. North America was responsible for $143,616 of that figure, with the United Arab Emirates bringing in $339,782 and the United Kingdom contributing $133,349.
Raanjhanaa posted $2.7 million in its second week of release in India. The film has grossed a total of $8.1 million in its home country and earned $756l in the same timeframe in North America. Fukrey reached a $5.4 million total in India and has grossed $124,221 in North America. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deehani continued its blockbuster run in India, reaching a $30.7 million cume. The Bollywood hit has grossed an additional $3.7 million in its North American run.

After the huge success of Raanjhanaa, Bollywood is eagerly awaiting the release of Mariyaan, which is set to make its first appearance in theaters on July 19. Both movies star the same man, Dhanush, who is not only a famous actor but it also a singer and producer as well. Danush plays a fisherman in Mariyaan, and Parvathi Menon plays his love interest in this story that "revolves around human survival", the Times of India reports.
Ghanchakkar was released this past weekend worldwide and has done surprisingly well in the United Arab Emirates box office, grossing just under $500,000 USD (2.24 crores). OneEntertainment India reports that it hasn't been doing as well as anticipated in other countries such as the UK and Australia, where Jatt and Juliet 2 was much more successful.
