BOX OFFICE ACTUALS: 'Die Hard' Finally Dethrones 'Hansel and Gretel'
on February 26, 2013
After four weeks at the top of the Brazilian charts, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters finally lost the #1 spot to the Bruce Willis' A Good Day to Die Hard. The fifth entrant in the action franchise made a modest debut -- a mere $2.3 million -- but it was enough to claim number one in a week sprinkled with smaller debuts from Beasts of the Southern Wild ($281K) and the 3D Russian cartoon Snow Queen ($350K). Otherwise, older releases lingered at the top of the charts with Hansel, Silver Linings Playbook and Les Miserables continuing to rack up small, but consistent numbers. Full box office report below.
