SOUTH KOREA: 'Iron Man 3' $16.4M Opening Dominates Box Office

on May 01, 2013

The $16.4 million opening weekend for Iron Man 3 was the only highlight at the South Korean box office last weekend. The film trounced its rivals, scoring a $11,065 per-screen average that nearly equaled the cumulative total of all the other per-screen averages on the top ten. The release of the latest Marvel film slowed down domestic success story Legendary Fist, which dropped 58% in its third week. Legendary Fist was still able to break the $10 million mark in its cumulative gross, however, thanks to its $979,828 weekend gross. Oblivion has been out for the same number of weeks than Legendary Fist but has been unable to overtake it at the box office. The Tom Cruise film came in third place last weekend and has grossed a total of $9.3 million in South Korea
