OVERSEAS: 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Off to a Hot Start in Brazil

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is already hot in Brazil. The highly anticipated sequel opened on Friday, November 15 in Brazil, a week ahead of its day-and-date debut in 65 territories leading into the November 22nd weekend. The film more than doubled the gross of its predecessor with a $6.2 million debut.
Major territories opening in the lead-up to November 22 include: the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, Germany, Spain, China, South Korea, Russia, Mexico, Scandinavia, and the Netherlands. The film will open in France, Belgium, and Italy the following week, with Japan as the last overseas market on December 27.
The original Hunger Games grossed $278.5 million overseas and $686.5 million worldwide.
