Fandango Poll Names 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I' As 2014's Most-Anticipated Film

on December 31, 2013

LOS ANGELES - December 31, 2013 - Fandango, the leading moviegoer destination, surveyed several thousand film fans last weekend, asking them about the films and stars they are most anticipating in the new year.

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1" has been selected as the fans' most anticipated movie, while Jennifer Lawrence and Ryan Gosling are the top fan picks for the Sexiest Men and Women appearing in 2014 movies. Last year's top pick was "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," which went on to become Fandango's best-selling movie of all time.

Lawrence was previously #5 on the Fandango 2013 Hot List. "With Jennifer Lawrence's appeal at all all-time high, ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1' will be the movie to beat at the 2014 box office," says Dave Karger, Chief Correspondent for Fandango. "Last year she won an Oscar for ‘Silver Linings Playbook' and starred in Fandango's top-selling movie of all time, ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.' This year she stars in 2014's most anticipated movie, ‘Mockingjay I,' costars in the year's third most anticipated movie, ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past" and is topping Oscar buzz for her supporting performance in ‘American Hustle.' Every actor dreams of having a career like the one that Jennifer is enjoying right now."

Ryan Gosling, who was the fans' #3 pick among men on the Fandango 2013 Hot List, is now the top choice for the Sexiest Man in 2014 movies. "Even though he has been specializing in indies as of late," says Karger, "Gosling is still considered the sexiest actor in Hollywood and continues to show mass appeal as a romantic lead for the female audience and as a steely hero for the male action-drama crowd."
