Fandango Sells Out Thousands Of 'Breaking Dawn - Part 2' Showtimes, Capturing 92% Of Ticket Sales on November 15, 2012

Breaking_Dawn_Two.jpgLOS ANGELES -- Fandango, the nation's leading moviegoer destination, announced today that "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2" represents 92% of today's ticket sales, with thousands of showtimes sold out across the country, from major markets like New York and Los Angeles and smaller communities from Alabaster, Alabama to Zanesville, Ohio. The epic conclusion of the "Twilight" series has been among the site's top three ticket-sellers each day since advance tickets first went on sale on October 1.


"It's the most anticipated moviegoing event of the season," said Paul Yanover, President of Fandango, "and our surveys indicate that the action in ‘Part 2' may be driving new moviegoers to see the grand finale. We expect that fans will take advantage of Fandango's many conveniences, like our mobile apps and mobile barcode ticketing, to guarantee their seats to the epic conclusion."

According to a recent Fandango survey of more than 1,000 moviegoers, "Breaking Dawn, Part 2" is the most anticipated film of the fall, with 57% of fans planning to see it more than once on the big screen.

When asked which elements of the movie were most appealing, a majority (52%) of fans picked the action, while 48% picked the romance. Among the film's most anticipated scenes, Bella's awakening/transformation as a vampire was the most selected, cited by (47%) of fans. Mackenzie Foy (Renesmee), Judi Shekoni (Zafrina), Lee Pace (Garrett), Patrick Brennan (Liam), and Rami Malek (Benjamin) are the top five new franchise actors that fans are most excited to see on the big screen.

Last month was Fandango's most successful October in the company's nearly 12-year history, with mobile as a strong driver of sales and traffic. Fandango's mobile ticket sales in October 2012 have increased 223% year-over-year, and mobile purchases now account for more than 30% of overall ticket sales on Fandango. Downloads of Fandango's popular mobile apps are also up more than 47% since this time last year, with total downloads surpassing the 28 million mark.

UPDATED: 'Breaking Dawn - Part 2' Off To Strong Start Overseas on November 15, 2012

Thursday Update #1: Some early international numbers are coming in for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2. It's all good news:

Deadline.com reports that Breaking Dawn - Part 2 has already grossed $1.8 million in France, $264K in the Netherlands, $362K in Sweeden and $531K in Belgium. Part 2 is outpacing Part I in all those territories. 

THR.com reports that Part 2 is also off to a strong start in Italy with $2.8 million on its first night. That's enough to push Part 2 past The Avengers for the distinction of 2012's best opening day in Italy.

REGAL ENTERTAINMENT GROUP ADDS SHOWS TO KEEP 'TWILIGHT' TICKETS AVAILABLE on November 14, 2012

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Regal Entertainment Group (NYSE: RGC), a leading motion picture exhibitor owning and operating the largest theater circuit in the United States, announced that advance ticket sales for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" have surpassed last year's advance sales at Regal for "Breaking Dawn - Part 1." Regal's Twilight Saga Marathon is also a very popular ticket at only $15 for admission to all five movies in the series.

"The response has been nothing short of phenomenal for Regal's advance ticket sales to Twilight. In some locations we have sold out more than a dozen auditoriums for the premiere, but managers keep adding additional auditoriums and showtimes to accommodate every eager Twilight fan," stated Ken Thewes, Chief Marketing Officer of Regal Entertainment Group.
