The official release from Fox:
On Friday, June 1, Fox International crossed the $1 billion GBO mark for 2012 for the 9th consecutive calendar year and the 12th time in our history. 20th Century Fox International is the only distributor to have eclipsed the $2B mark 3 years in a row ('09, '10, '11) and 5 times in total ('98, '06, '09, '10, '11) and with a huge summer upcoming, with PROMETHEUS, ICE AGE 4: CONTINENTAL DRIFT, ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER and THE WATCH, we are set to make this our 4th year in a row to $2 billion.
Thanks to a strong start to the calendar year, fueled by ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED ($135m in 2012; $211m total); THIS MEANS WAR ($100m); THE DESCENDANTS ($94M); CHRONICLE ($62.5M and counting), STAR WARS: EPISODE 1 3D ($60m) and over $60m GBO from Fox International Productions releases, Fox was well positioned going into April, when TITANIC 3D re-took the world by storm, adding $286m International GBO, $145m of which came from China alone.
The wildly successful release of PROMETHEUS this past weekend, earning $35m from 4,600 screen in 15 markets, pushed us over $1 billion mark on Friday.
On Monday, PROMETHEUS took in another $5m GBO, elevating the International cume to $40m with 35 markets releasing this weekend with the US, including Australia and South Korea. The UK alone did $2.7m GBO on Monday.

FANDANGO ACHIEVES ITS BEST MAY IN COMPANY HISTORY on June 04, 2012
LOS ANGELES, CA -- Fandango, the nation's leading moviegoer destination, announced today that it delivered its best-ever May numbers for both traffic and ticket sales in the company's 12-year history. The company reported a 47 % surge in year-over-year ticket sales, a 29% percent year-over-year increase in monthly visitors (totaling 34 million in May 2012, the highest monthly unique visitors in company history), and its top monthly mobile percentage (28%) of total tickets sold.
"Fandango's record-setting May is yet another signal of the incredible momentum behind Fandango right now," said Executive Vice President and General Manager Rick Butler. "Our enormous network of theater screens and box office share, combined with our innovative mobile and social products as well as our extensive coverage of movie news and film reviews, has made Fandango an essential destination for moviegoers everywhere."
Fandango sold its first ticket twelve years ago, during the first week of June in 2000. Helping fuel Fandango's growth surge is the company's expanded exhibitor reach, thanks to recent deals with AMC Theatres, Regency Theatres and other chains - as well as record-setting May ticket sales for "The Avengers." In addition, Fandango struck recent partnerships with Yahoo! and AOL's Moviefone, becoming the movie ticketing provider for both sites. Fandango's innovations - including its award-winning mobile and tablet apps and social products, such as its recently launched Facebook app, "Movies With Friends," reserved seating, and paperless Mobile Ticket scanning - are now available to millions of additional moviegoers through these new partnerships.
MARVEL STUDIOS BEGINS PRODUCTION ON THIRD INSTALLMENT OF THE BLOCKBUSTER FRANCHISE “IRON MAN” on June 04, 2012
BURBANK, Calif. (June 4, 2012) - Following in the footsteps of the record-breaking Marvel Studios' release "Marvel's The Avengers," production on the highly anticipated film "Iron Man 3," directed by Shane Black, has commenced production in Wilmington, North Carolina. The production schedule will also include locations in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina, Miami, Florida and China.
Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1963, "Iron Man 3" returns Robert Downey Jr. ("Iron Man," "Marvel's The Avengers") as the iconic Super Hero character Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Gwyneth Paltrow ("Iron Man," "Iron Man 2,") as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle ("Iron Man 2") as James "Rhodey" Rhodes and Jon Favreau ("Iron Man," "Iron Man 2") as Happy Hogan. Set for release in the U.S. on May 3, 2013, Marvel's "Iron Man 3" marks the second feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009.
"Iron Man 3" continues the epic, big-screen adventures of the world's favorite billionaire inventor/Super Hero, Tony Stark aka "Iron Man." Marvel Studios' President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Jon Favreau, Louis D'Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Charles Newirth, Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard and Dan Mintz.
The creative production team on the film includes two-time Oscar®-winning director of photography John Toll, ASC ("Braveheart," "Legends of the Fall"), production designer Bill Brzeski ("The Hangover," "Due Date"), editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. ("Marvel's The Avengers," "Captain America: The First Avenger") and Peter S. Elliot ("Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer"), and costume designer Louise Frogley ("Quantum of Solace," "Contagion").
Marvel Studios most recently produced the critically acclaimed "Marvel's The Avengers," which set the all-time, domestic 3-day weekend box office record at $207.4 million. The film, which is currently in release, continues to shatter box office records and is The Walt Disney Studios' highest-grossing global and domestic release of all time and marks the studios' fifth film to gross more than $1 billion worldwide.
In the summer of 2011, Marvel successfully launched two new franchises with "Thor," starring Chris Hemsworth, and "Captain America: The First Avenger," starring Chris Evans. Both films opened #1 at the box office and have grossed over $800 million worldwide combined. In 2010 "Iron Man 2," starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke, took the #1 spot in its first weekend with a domestic box office gross of $128.1 million.
In the summer of 2008, Marvel produced the summer blockbuster movies "Iron Man" and "The Incredible Hulk." "Iron Man," in which Robert Downey Jr. originally dons the Super Hero's powerful armor and stars alongside co-stars Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow, was released May 2, 2008, and was an immediate box office success. Garnering the number one position for two weeks in a row, the film brought in over $100 million in its opening weekend. On June 13, 2008, Marvel released "The Incredible Hulk," marking its second number one opener of that summer.
