Thursday Morning: J. Edgar is off to a promising start at seven locations in New York, Los Angeles and D.C. Warner Bros. estimates that the biopic managed $53,000 on its first day of release. Clint Eastwood's latest will expand to more than 1,900 locations this Friday.
A rush of negative reviews will surely hurt J. Edgar's chances at the box office this weekend. Boxoffice.com's own James Rocchi wrote that, "... J. Edgar represents a low point no Eastwood aficionado can ignore."
We're currently predicting a $12.5 million opening weekend.
