Anthony Minghella, the Academy Award winning writer/director of The English Patient, has passed away according to Variety . The director suffered a brain hemorrhage after undergoing a routine operation on his neck. Minghella recently directed a BBC/HBO telepic, No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, which is set to premiere on March 23rd. His recent film credits include Breaking and Entering, Cold Mountain and The Talented Mr. Ripley.
