Malco Theatres is the first theatre circuit in the country to "go green" with the introduction of new environmentally friendly popcorn bags. Malco's paper supplier, Packaging Concepts, Inc. of St. Louis, unveiled the new line of alternative paper bags during the recent ShoWest convention in Las Vegas. The new PCI bags are made with Wausau Paper's EcoSelect TM ProPly® papers. The new grease-resistant bags are produced without using chlorine chemicals. These papers are produced as either natural greaseproof or with barrier treatments meeting rigorous FDA compliance. EcoSelect natural fiber papers are based on environmentally responsible manufacturing featuring bio-fuels, hydro power use and third party certifications.

"Malco Theatres has always provided the highest quality in picture and presentation along with value added concession services", said Larry Etter, Vice President of Concessions. "Now, we are afforded the privilege to extend our efforts through a partnership with Packaging Concepts by providing an Eco-friendly disposable popcorn vessel that will protect our environment and allow the future generations of moviegoers a cleaner world and a safer community. We thank Packaging Concepts for providing all of us a better tomorrow."

The new bags are scheduled to hit at the Paradiso in Memphis and Razorback Cinema in Fayetteville, Arkansas on May 27, 2008, with the remaining locations rolling out over the summer.

Malco Theatres is headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee and is fourth-generation family-owned and operated. Malco operates over 300 screens in 33 locations across the mid-south.
