Drive-In Theatres Celebrate 75 Years of Existence

On this day in 1933, Richard Hollingshead Jr. opened the first drive-in theatre in Camden, New Jersey. Today, according to drive-ins.com, there are only 389 still open across the country. The highpoint for the format was in 1958 when there were over 4,000 drive-ins in operation in the United States.
