Bellucci Snags Role in 'Sorcerer'

Monica Bellucci will reportedly star as the long-lost love of Nicolas Cage's character in The Sorcercer's Apprentice, a new film that reunites the team behind Disney's National Treasure films. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing and Jon Turteltaub is directing.

The Italian-born Bellucci has established a pretty solid career for herself by appearing in projects for American directors such as Mel Gibson ( The Passion of the Christ ), The Wachowski Brothers ( The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions ) and Spike Lee ( She Hate Me ).

Apprentice is tentatively set to hit theatres on July 16, 2010.
