Amiel Signs Up for 'Old Timers'

Veteran director Jon Amiel has been officially hired to helm a new comedy for Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, tentatively titled Old Timers. Based on a stage play by Noah Haidie, the project tells the story of two retired hitmen.

Amiel’s last picture was 2003’s The Core, starring Aaron Eckhart and Hilary Swank, a sci-fi feature that only grossed $31 million domestically—$37 million when adjusted for inflation. Audiences however are likely more familiar with his work in 1999’s heist-thriller Entrapment, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sean Connery. That caper flick grossed an impressive $87.7 million domestically—$124.4 million adjusted. Amiel recently wrapped work on the Charles Darwin biopic Creation, which is set for release in September.
