On May 5, 2011, Spider-Man 4 will swing into IMAX specialty theaters, the same day as its worldwide release. Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire and Kirstin Dunst are to return for the Marvel/Sony franchise's fourth installment.

A fourth Spider-Man is a no-brainer. Spider-Man 3 opened with a $151 million weekend, and the three films combined have grossed close to $2.5 billion worldwide. IMAX, meanwhile, thanks in part to its participation in the release of Spider-Man 2 and 3, has become a force to be reckoned with; major IMAX releases this year such as Star Trek, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Watchmen have shown some serious weight at the box office.
