Wednesday, October 14, 2009 : A few new tidbits from the world of online sales:
-
This Is It
has already sold out more than 1,000 showtimes on Fandango.com alone.
-
This Is It
is currently the top-selling film on Fandango, representing 27% of weekly ticket sales on the site.
- The movie continues to outsell the previous best-selling concert film,
Hannah Montana 3D, by a factor of 2 to 1 at the same point in that film’s sales cycle (two weeks before its release date).
Wednesday, October 7, 2009: Michael Jackson’s This Is It has snagged a spot on MovieTickets.com Top-25 Advance Ticket Sellers of All-Time, with three weeks to go before its October 28 release. The concert film edged past The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in order to claim the position.
With such strong interest in This Is It, the Sony release could easily end up trumping Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour, which grabbed $65.3 million last year and is currently the highest-grossing concert film of all time.
