Next James Bond Film Gets a Start Date

After a performance of the Broadway play A Steady Rain, which British thesp Daniel Craig is currently starring in alongside Hugh Jackman, Craig was asked about the upcoming 23rd Bond picture. He responded that they "start at the end of next year", meaning fans have a bit longer to wait for the follow up to Quantum of Solace.

Bond's studio, MGM, has been in dire financial straits as of late. As of the moment, MGM is hoping that the highly-anticipated adaptation of The Hobbit will be enough to sustain them through their current rough patch. The adaptation is being co-produced by Warner Bros. through their New Line branch.

Worldwide, Quantum earned $586 million dollars and earned more than any previous Bond film domestically (in unadjusted dollars), but fell just short of Casino Royale 's worldwide grosses of $594.2 million. Quantum of Solace was a series first—a direct sequel to Casino Royale —but producers have already said that the next film returns to the series' classic episodic structure. The film's screenplay was written by Royale and Quantum co-writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, and is currently being rewritten by Frost/Nixon 's Peter Morgan.
