Sony Pictures Entertainment ended 2012 with $4.440 billion in global box office, their biggest total ever. The studio ended the year #1 in domestic and worldwide marketshare industry wide.
Sony hit all time highs with $1.768 billion in domestic ticket sales and $2.672 billion internationally. Fox finished first internationally in 2012, but an official figure has not been released yet.
The strong performance of Skyfall at the end of the year gave Sony the final boost it needed. The latest James Bond flick recently passed the $1 billion global mark.
