Fandango Invites Movie Fans to Participate in its Movie Costume Instagram Sweepstakes for a Chance to Win an iPad Mini
Fandango, the nation's leading moviegoer destination, surveyed thousands of film fans about which 2013 movie-inspired costumes they'll be wearing this Halloween, and the results are surprising. Thor, Katniss, Ron Burgundy and 86-year-old Irving Zisman are among the fans' top inspirations. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire won for Top Team Costume, and Despicable Me 2's one-eyed yellow Minions ruled as Top Kids' Costume. (For a selection of movie-inspired kids' costume ideas, check out Fandango's Family Room here.)
With a majority (58%) of moviegoers surveyed saying they will be dressing up on Halloween this Thursday, partygoers can expect to see an eye-catching selection of movie-inspired characters. "It's clear there's a lot of excitement for the next ‘Hunger Games' movie, as fans are already dressing up in full Panem regalia before ‘Catching Fire's" November 22 release date," says Fandango Chief Correspondent Dave Karger. "For kids, nothing beats a Minion, which won the top kids' costume hands down with 32% of the vote."
Superheroes ruled among men with Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Henry Cavill's Man of Steel Superman and Robert Downey, Jr.'s Iron Man claiming the top three spots, followed by Will Ferrell's beloved newscaster Ron Burgundy in the upcoming December release, Anchorman 2. Johnny Knoxville's crude, rude Irving Zisman from Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa took fifth place.
Among women, Jennifer Lawrence's bow-wielding Katniss from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was the landslide winner with 41% of the vote, followed by Mila Kunis' sexy, green Theodora (the Wicked Witch of the West from Oz: The Great and Powerful). Elizabeth Banks' colorful Effie Trinket (Catching Fire), Carey Mulligan's 1920s flapper Daisy (The Great Gatsby), and Chloe Grace Moretz's Hit Girl (Kick-Ass 2) rounded out the top five.
As part of the Halloween festivities, Fandango has launched a Movie Costume Instagram Sweepstakes (http://tickets.fandango.com/promo/MyMovieCostumeSweepstakes), where fans can upload photos of their best movie-inspired Halloween costumes via Instagram using the hashtag #MyMovieCostumeSweeps and @Fandango, for a chance to win an iPad Mini.
