FANDANGO PARTNERS WITH USC SCHOOL OF CINEMATIC ARTS AND DOLBY FOR NEW SEASON OF “FANDANGO FRONTRUNNERS”

LOS ANGELES -- Fandango, the nation's leading moviegoer destination, today announced the second season launch of its original video series, "Fandango Frontrunners," hosted by the company's chief correspondent Dave Karger at http://www.fandango.com/frontrunners. Known for its thoughtful interviews with A-list talent and his examination of their award-worthy performances, this season's "Frontrunners" will add several new dimensions, including its collaboration with Dolby Laboratories and the USC School of Cinematic Arts.

The first episodes of "Frontrunners" will feature interviews with Chiwetel Ejiofor and Lupita Nyong'o, the Golden Globe-nominated stars of "12 Years a Slave," Ben Stiller, star and director of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," and Octavia Spencer, co-star and executive producer of "Fruitvale Station." The episodes were filmed at The Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, which will be the home of the Academy Awards on March 2, 2014.

"With this week's Golden Globe and SAG Awards nominations, movie awards season is kicking into high gear, making it the perfect time to launch our new season of ‘Frontrunners'," said Host Dave Karger. "This season we are delving even deeper into the awe-inspiring performances of today's top movies, and exploring the people, places and memories that have empowered our frontrunners throughout their careers."

On, February 9, 2014, Fandango will film a special "Frontrunners" event on the USC campus in Eileen Norris Cinema Theatre/ Frank Sinatra Hall. Special award nominees will be interviewed about their "frontrunner" journey and will answer questions from the film school's students in the audience and via Twitter. The special "Frontrunners" episodes will air on Fandango following the event.

"We're very excited to be collaborating with Fandango on ‘Frontrunners,' and offering our young filmmakers and media creators the opportunity to interact with professionals at the top of their craft, and learn about the life influences that helped them reach their dreams," said Dean Elizabeth M. Daley, USC School of Cinematic Arts.

New episodes of "Frontrunners" will air on Fandango throughout the next few months, culminating after the 86th Academy Awards presentation on Sunday, March 2, 2014. Episodes will offer links to Fandango ticketing for the nominated films at more than 22,000 screens nationwide.

"Frontrunners" host Dave Karger is a 19-year entertainment industry journalist and one of the country's leading experts on the Oscars. Karger also hosts Fandango's weekly movie recommendation show, "Weekend Ticket," which launched in March of this year. Prior to joining Fandango in September 2012, Karger worked for Entertainment Weekly. Karger has served as the go-to awards correspondent for top broadcast outlets including TODAY, Access Hollywood and E! Karger also served as the Academy Awards' official Red Carpet Greeter on Oscar night in 2011 and 2012.
