Washington, DC - The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today approved the applications of Cantor Futures Exchange, L.P. for designation as a contract market and Cantor Clearinghouse, L.P. to be registered as a derivatives clearing organization. The Commodity Exchange Act requires the Commission to approve such applications if the applicant meets criteria enumerated in the Act.

Cantor also has requested approval from the CFTC of a contract related to domestic motion picture box office receipts. The Commission is still considering that contract. Moreover, given the novel nature of the contract that Cantor has proposed trading, the CFTC has requested, and Cantor has agreed, that rather than self-certifying such contract, Cantor will submit all new classes or categories of media-related contracts it intends to list for approval by the Commission. The Commission has not approved the trading of any futures or options related to box office receipts at this time.

SAN DIEGO -- Muvico Theaters, one of the earliest adopters of Sony digital cinema 4K technology, has completed the current phase of its digital conversion. The exhibitor now has five theaters equipped with Sony 4K digital cinema technology for a total of 89 screens, of which 17 are outfitted for 3D by combining Sony's single-projector 3D lens system with RealD® 3D technology.

Muvico's locations have had great success with 3D screenings, and the exhibitor is gearing up for the heavily anticipated release of Sony Pictures' Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D.

In addition to 3D, Sony's Digital Cinema Solutions and Services (DCSS) group has actively provided Muvico's locations with alternative content programs focused on in-theater gaming and digital cinema music events. Muvico successfully led a Sony PlayStation® gaming in-theater event at two key locations, Chicago and Los Angeles, for the gaming title, "Uncharted2: Among Thieves." Following the game event, Muvico also participated in the pilot Digital Music Series, hosting a special live appearance of band members from Creed at its West Palm Beach location to screen the band's DVD prior to release date.

The DVD screening premiered at 139 theater locations, and the event provided a rare opportunity for Muvico attendees to meet the band prior to the screening and participate at the theater.

"Muvico is more than just a ‘movie theater chain,' it's a total entertainment company," said Gary Johns, senior vice president of Sony's digital cinema division. "Its vision for the modern movie theater is far-reaching, and extends beyond the auditorium and into the lobbies, restaurants, and more. They are pioneers in the effort to create movie theaters as ‘digital destinations.' We're thrilled to be working with such a groundbreaking organization, providing them with the best technology foundation as they move forward with their 4K digital conversion."

The DCSS group's focus is to install Sony 4K projection technology, in addition to providing integration, installation, maintenance and technical support.

"Muvico continues to be at the forefront of technology, utilizing Sony 4K projection, to provide the highest definition in cinema," said Hal Cleveland, President and CEO of Muvico. "Sony has leveraged its entire breadth of resources to help us offer diverse alternate content programming, enhancing what is already a unique movie-going experience."

Muvico locations continue the exhibitor's "Premier Concept," of "drink, dine and watch," offering such services as VIP reserved seating for guests 21 years and older, complimentary popcorn, and Bogart's full-service restaurant and bar while enjoying the latest blockbuster in Sony 4K technology.

SAN DIEGO - Wildwood Theatres is installing Sony Electronics' 4K digital cinema technology at both of its locations in Wisconsin (Beloit and Janesville). The exhibitor has already completed its digital conversion at 20 of its 26 screens. Wildwood's 4K roll-out also includes outfitting four screens for 3D digital projection, combining Sony's single-projector 3D lens system with RealD 3D technology, enabling the exhibitor to present the highest-quality 2D and 3D digital projection.

Anthony Groh, owner of Wildwood Theatres, was convinced that the Sony 4K systems and Real D 3D technology delivered the right equipment mix to meet the new demand of 3D movies.

"We were really pleased to have converted up to 20 of our screens in time for the recent blockbuster Avatar," said Groh. "Sony's 4K technology provides unprecedented resolution, contrast and image quality. The result is a unique and dynamic entertainment experience for our theater customers."

Sony's Digital Cinema Solutions and Services group is working with Wildwood Theaters on the integration, installation, maintenance and service support for its 4K conversion, providing the exhibitor with a complete turn-key solution for converting to digital technology.

Wildwood Theatres will also be able to maximize the benefits of Sony's DCSS alternative content program, which can offer a broad range of media and entertainment content such as sports, music, and gaming to bring innovative entertainment options to the big screen and expand their movie-going offerings.

Sony 4K projectors offer the highest image resolution of all commercial projection technologies, producing 8.8 million pixels. 4K technology provides image resolution four times greater than consumer high-definition televisions, providing a superb out-of-home experience.
"Our 4K technology offers real benefits for exhibitors and their customers," said Gary Johns, senior vice president of Sony Electronics' digital cinema division. "It elevates the theater to a more engaging and immersive entertainment environment and it also allows exhibitors to provide exciting additional programming that perfectly complements their current offerings."
