MORRISTOWN, NJ and LOS ANGELES, CA -- Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp. (NASDAQ: CIDM), the global leader in the digital cinema industry, today announced Rave Motion Pictures, a Texas-based cinema chain, has signed an agreement to participate in Cinedigm's Phase 2 digital cinema deployment program. Three hundred fifty-six Rave screens across 20 U.S. states will participate in the Phase 2 program including some that have previously installed digital cinema equipment and 277 that will be converted using Barco Series II projection equipment. All will become Cinedigm Certified(TM) digital cinema theatres using Cinedigm technology solutions.

In April 2008, the CBG, a buying program of the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) for small and independent theatre operators, announced the selection of Cinedigm as the digital cinema integrator of choice for the CBG's 600+ members in the United States and Canada.

To date, Cinedigm has contracted for and completed the rollout of nearly 4,000 systems in forty-one states with multiple exhibitors. Its Phase 2 plan for up to an additional 10,000 screens will provide networked, turnkey Digital Cinema systems in conformance with DCI specifications.

CYPRESS, CA - Running until April 11th, the Cinépolis Foundation's social outreach program entitled "Let's all go to Cinépolis Haiti" will screen 11 movies on donated Christie digital cinema projectors reaching more than 70,000 people devastated by the February 12th earthquake.

"Let's all go to Cinépolis Haiti" is a joint effort between the Cinépolis Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, as well as the support of the Ministry of Culture of Haiti, FilmAid International, DOR Internacional and Christie Digital Systems USA, Inc. This partnership aids in the reconstruction of Haiti by promoting positive messages and by bringing a moment of relaxation and joy as the country continues its recovery.

Lorena Guillén-Laris, Executive Director of Cinépolis Foundation notes: ‘Let's all go to Cinépolis Haiti' seeks to provide glimmers of hope and moments of family life that contribute to the emotional state of our Haitian brothers and sisters. We want to laugh, dream and be inspired by positive messages. The short films will encourage them to be strong and move forward.

The movies will be shown nightly on a 15m (49.2ft) inflatable screen in shelters located throughout Port au Prince and surrounding areas and will include both short and feature length, Hollywood movies. The short films theming on survival, unity and civic participation include: "I'm Still Alive", "Grand Mère", "Mechanistic" and "Volunteer", as well as, shorts recorded by survivors of the earthquake. The full feature movies include: "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea", "Ice Age", "Ice Age: The Meltdown" and "Night at the Museum" - the last three are being supplied by 20th Century Fox. The long and short films are spoken or translated into French and Creole, the national languages of Haiti.

'Cartel' Canceled

Cartel, a new drama about a man protecting his son from Mexican drug lords, has been stopped by Universal five weeks before it was going to begin production. Asger Leth (Ghosts of Cité Soleil) was set to direct. It hasn't exactly been smoothing sailing for the project considering that Brolin replaced Sean Penn, who dropped out for personal reasons.

Universal suffered through several major duds in 2009, and they aren't fairing much better in 2010. Green Zone and Repo Men both failed to catch on at the box office.

Disney must be very pleased with Tron Legacy, because they are allowing a sequel to be developed.

Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz are penning the second film. The duo had a hand in writing the screenplay for Legacy, and they are also know for their work as writers/executive producers on Lost.

Legacy hits theaters on December 17. It will go up against Yogi Bear, another 3D release.

Total tweets for April 9th Openers

Date Night started the week with 476 tweets on Monday. By comparison, Couples Retreat had 533 tweets on its Monday before release. I think Couples is definitely the best comparison here since the film is going to attract an older audience than most comedies in the last 6 months so the ratio will be low. 300 for its ratio should be a solid estimate but I'd be skeptical about anything much lower than that. The fact that its tracking behind Couples so far seems to indicate that it will fall in the lower half of the $30s, but tomorrow will be a much better yardstick. Right now its on course for a 3,200 tweet week which would indicate an $11 million Friday. Stay tuned for further updates this week.
