Based on the children's novel by Brian Selznick, the film follows an orphan named Hugo Cabret living in the walls of the Paris train station, who repairs an abandoned robot and finds himself in the middle of a mystery. Butterfield would play the title character, while Moretz would take on the part of Isabelle, an eccentric girl who plays an important role in the adventure. Sacha Baron Cohen and Ben Kingsley previously joined the project.

Butterfield's biggest role to date is a leading role in the Holocaust drama The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, while Moretz recently appeared in (500) Days of Summer, and will be seen very soon in Matthew Vaughn's Kick Ass as the deadly villain Hit Girl. She also recently wrapped one of the lead roles in Cloverfield director Matt Reeves' American remake of Tomas Alfredson's popular vampire thriller Let the Right One In (re-titled Let Me In), which will also be in theaters this year.

Comedian Jason Segel has signed to star in Disney's first big-screen Muppet effort, currently titled The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made. Segel co-wrote the script with Nicholas Stoller, who directed Segel in Forgetting Sarah Marshall (which contained a vampire puppet musical number that helped Segel and Stoller get the job).

The story for the movie is currently being kept a secret, although it sounds as if Segel's character will re-unite the Muppets. James Bobin, a writer, producer, and director on the hit HBO comedy show "Flight of the Conchords", has been tapped to direct. Recently, Disney has started to re-build the Muppet brand, by creating a YouTube and Twitter account for the Muppet Studio. Late last year, a video of the Queen song "Bohemian Rhapsody" was uploaded to the channel and quickly became an internet sensation. It currently sits at 13.5 million views.

Segel has been fairly careful about big-screen ventures. The actor is primarily tied up with the popular abc comedy "How I Met Your Mother", currently in its fifth season, but aside from Marshall, he appeared in the successful 2009 comedy I Love You, Man, alongside Paul Rudd, and recently signed to star in the Duplass Brothers' upcoming comedy Jeff Who Lives at Home. Stoller, meanwhile, has been hard at work writing and directing the Marshall spin-off Get Him to the Greek, starring Russell Brand and Jonah Hill, which opens on June 4th, 2010.
