DreamLoungers in All Auditoriums, Zaffiro's Express in New Lobby
MILWAUKEE--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Going to the movies is about to become a whole new experience for film lovers in east central Wisconsin. Marcus Theatres® , a division of The Marcus Corporation (NYSE:MCS), announced today the complete renovation of its Marcus Sheboygan Cinema in Sheboygan, Wis. The extensive undertaking includes a refreshed and updated exterior as well as a remodeled lobby with new concession stand, box office and interior finishes. A Zaffiro's Express, which offers guests exciting new food and beverage options to enjoy during the show, will be located in the new lobby.
The most significant change at the theatre will be the replacement of the seats in every auditorium with DreamLoungers℠, Marcus Theatres' signature seating concept. The Marcus Sheboygan Cinema will be the first all-DreamLounger location in the state of Wisconsin.
DreamLounger electric leather recliners offer the ultimate in comfort, allowing the moviegoer to go from upright to a full recline position at the touch of a button. To accommodate the plush, oversized recliners, auditoriums will be remodeled to allow for more space between rows and to double the legroom from 42 inches to a spacious 84 inches.

The new Zaffiro's Express will offer a full menu of sandwiches, salads, appetizers, desserts and, of course, Zaffiro's THINCREDIBLE® handmade-to-order pizza. The pizza is made from the original Zaffiro family recipe developed almost 60 years ago, using only the freshest and most premium ingredients. Beer and wine coolers will also be available from Zaffiro's Express and can be taken into any of the auditoriums.

Construction is scheduled to begin the week of February 17 and will be completed by the end of spring.

Digitally restored classics available at select theatres nationwide

The six week film series will include award-winning films with screenings every Sunday and Wednesday beginning Sunday, February 23.

Monday Update: Warner's The LEGO Movie easily remained in first place over the Presidents Day holiday weekend with an estimated four-day take of $63.52 million. If the estimate holds, The LEGO Movie will just top the $63.14 million take of 2010's Valentine's Day to set a new record for the largest all-time four-day Presidents Day weekend performance. The LEGO Movie was down just 8 percent from last weekend's three-day take and has grossed a very impressive $143.82 million in eleven days. The LEGO Movie is now running 15 percent ahead of the $125.15 million eleven-day take of 2012's The Lorax. With the aid of strong word of mouth and no new competition for family audiences throughout the rest of February, The LEGO Movie should continue to hold up very well going forward. The LEGO Movie took in $50.02 million over the three-day frame.
Sony's About Last Night was the weekend's top opener with an estimated four-day take of $28.5 million to place in second. About Last Night was off to a terrific $12.86 million start on Valentine's Day, but slowed significantly as the holiday weekend went on. Nonetheless, the romantic comedy remake featuring Kevin Hart was still able to perform in line with expectations this weekend and represents the second strong performer for Hart in just over a month (joining last month's Ride Along). Hart will return to theatres again on June 20, when Sony releases Think Like a Man Too. About Last Night is currently running 22 percent behind the $36.39 million four-day start of 2012's Think Like a Man. About Last Night took in $25.7 million over the three-day frame.
Fellow Sony release RoboCop placed in third with an estimated four-day take of $25.6 million. Unlike About Last Night (and the weekend's other two new wide releases), RoboCop strengthened as the holiday weekend went on, as the Friday performance for the pricey sci-fi action remake was muted a bit by not being the most popular Valentine's Day option. With that said, the $30.55 million six-day start for RoboCop is nonetheless underwhelming given expectations and the film's price tag. RoboCop is currently running 22 percent behind the $38.99 million six-day take of last year's A Good Day to Die Hard (which opened on a Thursday). RoboCop grossed $21.7 million over the three-day weekend.
Universal's Endless Love debuted in fifth place with an estimated four-day take of $15.06 million. Like About Last Night, Endless Love was strong out of the gate on Valentine's Day (with $7.4 million), but also slowed significantly as the holiday weekend went on. The PG-13 rated romantic drama remake appealed to teenage girls this weekend, but didn't have much appeal outside of that demo. Endless Love didn't come anywhere close to matching the$30.23 million four-day start of last year's Safe Haven (which opened on a Thursday), but is still performing towards the lower end of its more subdued pre-release expectations. Endless Love took in $13.2 million over the three-day frame.
Performing far poorer this weekend (especially with price tags in mind) was Winter's Tale. Warner's romantic drama starring Colin Farrell debuted in seventh place with a very disappointing estimated four-day start of just $8.1 million. Highly negative reviews helped kill whatever potential the film may have had with adult audiences as a Valentine's Day option. Like About Last Night and Endless Love, Winter's Tale also held up poorly as the holiday weekend went on. Winter's Tale is currently running 37 percent behind the $12.88 million four-day start of 2008's Definitely, Maybe (which opened on a Thursday). Winter's Tale took in $7.27 million over the three-day frame.
Sony's The Monuments Men held up well in its second weekend of release to claim fourth with an estimated four-day gross of $18.0 million. The George Clooney directed World War II film was down 18 percent from last weekend's three-day start. The film may have received an added boost this weekend from adult moviegoers who decided against seeing Winter's Tale. The Monuments Men has grossed $46.67 million through eleven days of release, which is on the high end of expectations. The film took in $15.5 million over the three-day frame.
Sunday Update: There was no stopping The LEGO Movie this weekend, as Warner's 3D computer animated blockbuster easily remained in first place with an estimated second weekend take of $48.81 million. That was down just 29 percent from last weekend's opening weekend performance and brings the film's ten-day total to a stronger than expected $129.11 million. The LEGO Movie is now running 6 percent ahead of the $121.72 million ten-day start of 2012's The Lorax (which fell 45 percent in its second weekend to gross $34.85 million). BoxOffice is currently projecting a four-day gross of $61.0 million for The LEGO Movie (the film's official four-day estimate will be released on Monday morning).
Sony's About Last Night was this weekend's top opener with an estimated three-day start of $27.0 million to place in second. While the romantic comedy remake featuring Kevin Hart still over-performed a bit this weekend, the film (as well as the weekend's other primary Valentine's Day options) did come back down to earth on Saturday (the film was down 38 percent to gross $8.05 million) after an impressive Valentine's Day start on Friday ($12.98 million). About Last Night debuted 20 percent below the $33.64 million three-day start of 2012's Think Like a Man. The film marks another strong performer for Hart on the heels of last month's Ride Along (which continued to perform very well this weekend in its own right with an estimated sixth place take of $8.8 million). Sony's current four-day estimate for About Last Night stands at $30.2 million.
The audience breakdown for About Last Night skewed towards female moviegoers (63 percent) and towards moviegoers over the age of 30 (57 percent). About Last Night earned an encouraging A- rating on CinemaScore. With that in mind, it is quite possible that the film could stabilize after the initial Valentine's Day front-loading is out of the way.
Fellow Sony release RoboCop placed in third this weekend with an estimated three-day take of $21.5 million. That brings the five-day total for the pricey sci-fi action remake to $26.45 million. After a weak midweek start on Wednesday and Thursday (due at least in part to poor weather in the South and East), RoboCop was able to rebound nicely once the weekend hit, though the film's five-day start is still weaker than was widely anticipated and is soft with the film's price tag in mind. RoboCop is currently running 28 percent behind the $36.88 million five-day start of last year's A Good Day to Die Hard (which opened on a Thursday). Sony's current four-day estimate for RoboCop stands at $25.1 million.
The audience breakdown for RoboCop skewed towards male moviegoers (62 percent) and towards moviegoers 25 years and over (64 percent). RoboCop earned a respectable B+ rating on CinemaScore and will hope to build upon the solid early holding power it is displaying so far.
After a very solid $7.4 million start on Valentine's Day, Universal's Endless Love tumbled a harsh 53 percent on Saturday to take in $3.5 million. The romantic drama remake grossed an estimated $13.4 million over the three-day frame to place in fifth, which was in line with the lower end of expectations. The film's three-day start was 45 percent softer than the $24.34 million three-day start of last year's Safe Haven (which opened on a Thursday). Universal's current four-day estimate for Endless Love stands at $15.25 million.
The audience breakdown for Endless Love skewed especially heavily towards both female moviegoers (80 percent) and towards moviegoers under the age of 25 (76 percent). Like About Last Night, Endless Love also received an A- rating on CinemaScore. Endless Love will also hope to stabilize after its initial Valentine's Day front-loading; though that will be a tough task given just how front-loaded it was towards Valentine's Day this weekend.
The weekend's other new wide release, Winter's Tale opened with a very disappointing estimated $7.79 million to place in seventh over the three-day frame. Despite solid online pre-sales earlier in the week, Warner's romantic drama starring Colin Farrell debuted below its already modest pre-release expectations. Highly negative reviews took far more of a toll on Winter's Tale than the highly negative reviews of Endless Love took on it. The three-day start for Winter's Tale was 23 percent softer than the $10.06 million three-day start of 2008's Definitely, Maybe (which opened on a Thursday). BoxOffice is currently projecting a four-day start of $8.7 million for Winter's Tale. The film received a so-so B rating on CinemaScore.
Sony's The Monuments Men held up well in its second weekend of release to place in fourth with an estimated three-day take of $15.0 million. The George Clooney directed World War II film was down 32 percent from last weekend's debut. The Monuments Men has grossed $43.67 million through ten days of release, which is on the high end of expectations. Given the film's performance so far, it appears that The Monuments Men is being far better received by moviegoers than it was by critics. Sony's current four-day estimate for The Monuments Men stands at $17.3 million.
Saturday Update: Warner Bros. reports that The LEGO Movie grabbed another $13.03 million on Valentine's Day, down just 24 percent from its opening day last week and bringing its eight-day domestic haul to an impressive $93.3 million. The film will easily retain number one in its second weekend as BoxOffice projects $51 million three-day and $62.5 million four-day frames.
About Last Night was the big winner of this double holiday weekend's new releases, netting a strong $13 million as date crowds hit the multiplexes on Valentine's Day. Kevin Hart's streak of box office drawing power rolls on in the wake of Ride Along. Critics have given the film a fresh rating with 76 percent on Rotten Tomatoes as of this morning, while word of mouth appears healthy with 82 percent of Flixster users approving of or still anticipating the rom-com remake. BoxOffice projects $32.5 million three-day and $36 million four-day weekend results.
The RoboCop remake added $7 million on Friday after a slow first two days out of the gate, bringing its total after three days to $12 million. While the film may have suffered on Valentine's, its overall performance is disappointing in the grand scheme of things with a reported production budget of around $130 million. Reviews have been mixed (50 percent from Rotten Tomatoes critics) while word of mouth appears modest at best with a 66 percent Flixster score. Add this to the growing list of sci-fi films that have fallen short of expectations at the box office. BoxOffice projects $20.5 million for the three-day weekend and $23 million for the four-day frame, bringing RoboCop's six-day opening close to $28 million by the end of Monday.
The last of three 80s remakes opening this weekend, Endless Love accounted for a solid $7.3 million yesterday as Universal's marketing strategy aimed at teen girls paid off for the ultimate date night. That puts the low-budget romantic drama on target for $18.5 million over three days and $20.5 million through President's Day on Monday. Critics haven't taken to the redo (14 percent) while Flixster users are more forgiving, though not particularly enthusiastic (66 percent).
The one non-remake opening this week ended up getting the short end of the stick. Winter's Tale, produced for a high $75 million, tallied just $3.655 million yesterday, and with 12 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and 55 percent from Flixster, look for the film to fade pretty quickly. The film's CinemaScore was a "B". BoxOffice projects $9.3 million through Sunday and a $10.3 million four-day haul.
Friday Update #2: Variety reports that About Last Night is on track for a $10 million Valentine's Day opening, giving it a shot at over $25 million for the extended weekend. That tops the sub-$20 million four-day early projections for RoboCop, which was off to a soft $5 million start after two days entering Friday.
Endless Love, meanwhile, could be in store for an upset over RoboCop with around $6 million on Friday alone. Evening date business could send that figure higher. Winter's Tale will fight to top $10 million for the four-day frame.
Ultimately, The LEGO Movie will remain number one by a wide margin. The animated breakout remains on pace for a four-day weekend close to $60 million.
Friday Update: About Last Night earned an estimated $525,000 from Thursday night shows, comparing very favorably with The Best Man Holiday's $690,000 earnings back in November and The Vow's $700,000 midnight shows on the Friday before President's Day and Valentine's Day in 2012. Kevin Hart's presence in the About Last Night remake is clearly a driving factor once again as the film now stands a good chance of topping this weekend's crowded slate of new releases.
Meanwhile, Endless Love--the third 1980s remake debuting this week--hauled in a more modest $218,000 on Thursday evening. The film has been pushed hard toward younger audiences though, so business could pick up over Valentine's evening.
RoboCop is projected to have earned around $2.1 million for Thursday.

Thursday Update: Sony's RoboCop reboot earned an estimated $2.8 million on Wednesday, enough to knock The LEGO Movie out of first place for the day. That represents a slow start to the film's six-day holiday debut, however, winter weather is currently affecting many areas of the country. Additionally, awareness may have been low for the film's mid-week debut.
