SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- LIONSGATE® (NYSE: LGF), the leading next generation studio, and Tyler Perry continue to be an unstoppable force in Hollywood as Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too? debuted at number one on the DVD and Blu-ray sell through charts, selling over one million units in its first week of release. Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too?, which grossed $60 million during its successful theatrical run, reunites the charismatic cast and characters from hit comedy/drama Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?, with writer-producer-director Perry leading an all-star original cast including singer/actress Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Sharon Leal, Malik Yoba, Richard T. Jones and Michael Jai White.
The partnership between Lionsgate and Perry has proven successful across film, DVD and television. Perry has released nine films theatrically through Lionsgate since Diary of a Mad Black Woman in February 2005, and they have collectively grossed nearly $481 million at the North American box office. Lionsgate will be releasing Perry's next two films, For Colored Girls, the big screen version of the landmark play, on November 5, 2010 and Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family, the adaptation of the popular play, on April 22, 2011.
Additionally, Lionsgate's Debmar-Mercury television syndication company has delivered 172 episodes of his highly successful television series, "House of Payne," which is currently airing in a dual window on TBS and in Fox station group-led syndication. TBS also airs Perry's second television series, "House of Payne" spin-off "Meet The Browns", and will become a part of the Fox station group-led syndication next week.
The debut caps a strong run for Lionsgate in which the theatrical title Kick Ass ranked first on the DVD, Blu-ray and digital charts when it debuted in August and its films The Expendables and The Last Exorcism have been among the leaders at the North American box office with The Expendables holding the number one spot at the North American box office for two straight weeks and has now grossed more than $93 million, with the film opened at number one in the U.K. as well.

Universal will turn Stephen King's Dark Tower novel series into a massive film/TV project. Ron Howard has already agreed to direct the first film as well as the first season of the television series. Brian Grazer will produce and Akiva Goldsman will pen the script.
Howard's next directorial gig is The Dilemma, a story about infidelity featuring Vince Vaughn, Channing Tatum. Kevin James and Jennifer Connelly.
LOS ANGELES (Sept. 8, 2010) - The International 3D Society, established to advance the art and technologies of stereoscopic 3D content and its innovators, today announced the 2010 recipients of its prestigious LumiereTM Award. Recognizing the most important recent accomplishments within the stereoscopic 3D medium, the LumiereTM Award will be formally presented during the 3D Technology Awards on Oct. 19 at Mann's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
The LumiereTM Award is the highest honor of its kind, with winners being selected by the membership of the International 3D Society and a blue ribbon panel of stereoscopic 3D experts. The inaugural program will recognize individuals and organizations that had the most significant impact on the advancement of the medium from Jan. 1, 1980 through Dec. 31, 2009:

LOS ANGELES -- Netflix, Inc (Nasdaq: NFLX) and Nu Image/Millennium Films today announced a long-term agreement through which first-run theatrical films distributed by the Nu Image/Millennium Group will be licensed to Netflix for streaming over the Internet to its subscribers during the "pay TV window." Historically, these films have been licensed to premium TV channels.
The deal underscores how Netflix is moving rapidly to expand both the variety and timeliness of movies and TV episodes available to be watched instantly by its members. The companies said they expect five to 10 theatrical films per year to flow to Netflix through the agreement, in general just a few months after their release on DVD.
Nu Image and Millennium Films are best known for big budget action/thriller movies including: The Expendables, John Rambo, Brooklyn's Finest, Righteous Kill, 16 Blocks and Black Dahlia.
"We are delighted to be in business with Netflix," said Avi Lerner, co-chairman of Nu Image/Millennium. "This is a groundbreaking deal for our new releases and library titles. It will allow us to be more aggressive with theatrical releases and will clearly impact our distribution model. We will be producing more great films for Netflix."

Among the first films to be covered under the deal is Dito Monteil's 2011 scheduled release Son of No One, a crime drama starring Channing Tatum, Al Pacino, Katie Holmes, Tracy Morgan, Ray Liotta and Juliette Bincoche about a young cop assigned to the working class Queens neighborhood in which he grew up and the discovery of a horrible family secret. Also slated for Netflix via the new agreement is 2011's scheduled Elephant White, starring Academy Award® nominee Djimon Hounsou and Golden Globe® winner Kevin Bacon in a drama about a contract killer who gets swept up in the dangerous business of white slave traders in Thailand.
The deal was negotiated by David Sobieraj, president of domestic video and television for Nu Image/Millennium Films, and Robert Kyncl, vice president of content acquisition for Netflix.
