Paramount will now send out True Grit to theaters on December 22 instead of December 25. The latest film from the Coen Brothers stars Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Hailee Steinfeld. The decision will allow the western to build some momentum before the Christmas holiday.

The Coens are coming off A Serious Man, which won critical raves but failed to connect with mainstream audiences. The Focus release only delivered $9.2 million domestically. It's a safe bet that True Grit will top that during its opening weekend alone.
