Screened at Sundance. This Bravo/IFC documentary opens with eventual Hollywood director Sam Fuller as a newsman, then a WWII soldier. His life after was clearly inspired by those first two lives. Clips from Fuller's films and an interview with him by executive producer Tim Robbins are intriguing. Comments by Jim Jarmusch and Martin Scorsese also enlighten, in a "Film School in a Box" way. There's also Quentin Tarantino, aiding Robbins in going through Fuller's packed garage—at best revealing how helpful Tarantino must've been as a video store clerk. Directed and written by Adam Simon. Produced by Colin MacCabe and Paula Jolfon. A BFI/IFC production; no distribution. Documentary. Unrated. Running time: 56 min.
