'Gravity' Reaches $21.1M on December 02, 2013
Gravity moved up to a $21.1 million cume in its 9th frame in Russia. The sci-fi film has been able to carve a niche for itself in the market despite losing the battle for IMAX screens against Russia’s Stalingrad, the year’s top performer in the market and the highest-grossing domestic film of all time in Russia. Gravity has grossed a total of $615.3 million worldwide and is the sixth biggest film of 2013 at the global box office. The film has strongly benefitted from a $365.6 million performance overseas.
'Thor: The Dark World' Rises to #3 Film of 2013 on December 02, 2013
Thor: The Dark World climbed up to a $35.6 million cume in Russia over the weekend, its fourth frame in the market. The Thor sequel has now more than doubled the $16.4 million lifetime gross of the original in the market. Thor: The Dark World passed Fast & Furious 6 ($33.9) and Despicable Me 2 ($35.1M) to become the third highest grossing release of 2013. It is unlikely that Thor will be able to challenge Iron Man 3 ($44.2M) or Stalingrad ($51.6M) for the top two spots of the year at the Russian box office.
'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Nears $20M Milestone on December 02, 2013
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will hit $20 million by the following weekend after finishing its latest frame in Russia with a $19.6 million cume. Russia is one of the world’s top markets for the sequel, joining the United Kingdom ($35.3M), Germany ($24.5M), and Australia ($22.2M) as one of the film’s top performers outside of North America. The original Hunger Games grossed $13.3 million in Russia.
RUSSIA: 'Catching Fire' Blasts Through Box Office with $11.5M Bow on November 27, 2013
An $11.5 million debut for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire nearly surpassed the original's $13.3 million lifetime take in Russia. Catching Fire dominated the market in its debut, securing a commanding lead in the per-screen average category with a market-leading $12,264 average.
Last Vegas had a moderate hold in second place with a $1.6 million tally. The comedy starring a strong cast of veteran actors has already grossed a successful $5.4 million in the market. Horror reboot Carrie tumbled 67% from its opening weekend for a $1.5 million take in its second frame. Carrie's two-week total stands at $7.7 million.
Thor: The Dark World suffered a 71% drop in the shadow of Catching Fire. The Thor sequel grossed $1.4 million over the weekend and has earned a total of $34.6 million in the market.
Disney's Delivery Man, a remake of French-langauge Canadian film Starbuck, opened day-and-date with North America and couldn't muster better numbers in Russia. The film was yet another flop for Vince Vaughn in North America and settled for a mid-table premiere in Russia with $1.2 million.

Thor: The Dark World is currently reporting a $381 million overseas cume and $548.8 milliom global total.
