Company Not Stopping to Rest at Milestone Mark as U.S. Expansion Begins in Los Angeles this Summer
LOS ANGELES, CA - May 1, 2014 -- CJ 4DPLEX, the world's first 4D cinema company for feature films, launched its 100th 4DX theater at BuenaVista Forum shopping mall in Mexico City on April 18th. 4DX is CJ group's innovative movie platform that integrated the concept and technology of theme park rides with movie theaters to offer an immersive cinema experience.
Continuing their close partnership with Cinepolis, one of the world's top five multiplex chains, the 100th 4DX site at the BuenaVista Forum is the twentieth location in Mexico. Cinepolis opened its first 4DX theater in Paseo Acoxpa, Mexico in 2011. BuenaVista Forum cinema is the third biggest site for Cinepolis in Mexico, located in BuevaVista shopping mall in a modern district of Mexico City. Constructed over the suburban railway station, the mall is visited by not only people from Mexico City but also suburbans searching for shopping, dining and entertainment experience.
Since the CJ 4DPLEX launched the first theater in Beijing China, it took less than 4 years to reach the 100th site, which means more than two theaters have opened per month in that span of time. "This is a monumental achievement for CJ 4DPLEX and we are thrilled at the reception our technology has received." Said Choi Byung Hwan, the CEO of CJ 4DPLEX.
CJ 4DPLEX now targets to increase the number of theaters from the current 100 in 24 countries to 200 in 35 countries within the next 12 months by prioritizing its expansion in the U.S., the world's largest motion picture market. Last month at CinemaCon 2014, CJ 4DPLEX announced its first U.S. location at the Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE Stadium 14 Theaters in Los Angeles. The site is set to open to the public this summer with a blockbuster release.
And they won't stop there. For CJ 4DPLEX, 300 is not only a Hollywood blockbuster but it is the number of theaters in which it hopes to deploy its 4DX technology within two years. "With 300 theaters, the business can start to turn around and 4DX has the potential to become a global brand that consumers can immediately associate with the movie industry, like IMAX today." Choi said. "We are doing a lot networking with Hollywood directors and major studios with hopes of not only getting them interested in making movies in 4DX but also possibly getting involved in film pre-production in the future."
Now that 4DX has just achieved its 100th site, the company keeps rushing on their way to its ambitious target of 200, then 300 theaters ahead. As the CEO said, will CJ 4DPLEX become the leader in global premium theater industry? Time to keep your eye on the business path of the company, armed with the ‘Only One' spirit of their mother group, CJ.
