IT'S THE STEVE SIMELS SHOW!
starring Steve Simels as 'Steve Simels'

Tuesday Movie of the Week

TODAY'S EPISODE (09 November 2010)

everything_you_know.jpgFrom 1975, it's the Beatles of Comedy, a/k/a The Firesign Theatre, and the feature film adaptation of their album Everything You Know Is Wrong. Digitally transferred, at no personal expense to myself whatsoever, from a serviceable over-the-counter 1993 VHS copy.

A viewing note up front: Those of you reading these poor words on some sort of hand-held device licensed by Apple will not be able to view the film, due to Steve Jobs having issues with Flash. Your home or office computer should do the trick, however.

As you have doubtless noted, EYKIW is a pretty low budget B-movie drive-in kind of production, but its at the time un-heralded cinematographer would later (1982) shoot one of the most famous and beloved films ever made, and then go on to garner five Academy Award nominations over the course of a long and still productive career.  A coveted BOX OFFICE No-Prize will be awarded the first commenter who correctly identifies the cinematographer and film -- and remember: No Googling!!!!

A final note: As you will have also undoubtedly noticed, Everything You Know Is Wrong: The Movie is a lip-synched version of the complete actual Firesign Theatre audio LP. If there's another example in cinema history of a pre-existing spoken word or comedy album being recreated in this fashion, then I for one am unfamiliar with it.
