Thursday Morning Update: After opening on Wednesday Hit And Run rose a very weak 13% to 1,656 tweets and 2.06% market share, up from 1,472 tweets and 1.94% market share on Tuesday. Generally opening day bumps are much much bigger than this so it hints at a very poor start of under $2 million. By comparison, Get Him To The Greek and When In Rome both had opening day increases of ~80% percent. The silver lining here is that since Summer is over less people will be around to check it out mid-week which means a decent Friday bump should be in order. Expect it to grab $3 million between Wednesday and Thursday before improving to $7 million over the weekend period for a five day haul of $10 million.
Premium Rush also struggled on Wednesday as it fell 22% to 920 tweets and 1.14% market share, down from Tuesday's 1,173 tweets and 1.55% market share. By comparison, Lockout had 746 tweets its Wednesday before release on its way to 2,863 total release week tweets which it turned into a Friday ratio of 1,288, Man On A Ledge had 1,348 tweets (5,316 total / 2,126 Friday ratio) and Contraband had 3,170 (12,134 total / 1,395 Friday ratio). The hissing sound you are no doubt prominently hearing is the film's chances deflating. It hasn't been able to take off this week at all and this lack of expansion has pretty much extinguished any hope of it surprising and breaking out over the weekend. With an expected ratio of 1,750 and 5,250 tweets by the end of the day looking likely expect $3 million on Friday and $9 million by the end of the weekend.
